You can make a tomato cage. Or, use a tone of rolling (a small circle with ties that bind the lamp harp) to the desired size for the top to find a ring of metal the size you want for the background measurement cloth the curtain, to fit between the circles and sew the fabric for them. You can add decorative top and bottom to hide the seams and give more weight to the bottom of the blind.

Digital Shades 1 (Bonus Cd) $19.99 Originally released in online-only format (hence the title) between BEFORE THE DAWN HEALS US (‘05) and SATURDAYS = YOUTH (‘08), DIGITAL SHADES VOL. 1 finds M83 mastermind Anthony Gonzalez exploring the ambient side of his dreamy electro-shoegaze aesthetic. These predominantly instrumental tracks clearly call on the influence of Brian Eno’s “discreet music,” as best revealed on the collection’s drifting opener, “Waves, Waves, Waves.” Other highlights of this beautifully subdued album include “My Own Strange Path,” which reverberates with wavering keyboard lines, and the spare piano piece “Dancing Mountains,” a track that sounds like an outtake from Eno and Harold Budd’s pop minimalist masterpiece AMBIENT 2: PLATEAUX OF MIRROR.

Shades Of Blue Orphanage (Bonus Tracks) (Japan) $54.99 Full title: Shades of a Blue Orphanage.A compilation of early material.Thin Lizzy: Phil Lynott (vocals, bass), Eric Bell (guitar), Brian Downey (drums).Additional personnel: Clodagh Simonds (harpsichord, Mellotron).A fascinating, all-over-the-map album by a band that hadn’t yet found its own voice (although in retrospect hints of the band’s ultimate direction can be heard here). Things get off to a roaring start with “The Rise and Dear Demise of the Funky Nomadic Tribes,” which segues from Yes-derived staccato unison riffing into a funk-guitar workout influenced by Jimi Hendrix and James Brown. From there it’s on to “Buffalo Gal,” a melancholy folk-ish plaint that anticipates the working class Irish poetry Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott would develop to great effect later in the ’70s; other stylistic detours include stabs at faux rockabilly (“I Don’t Want to Forget How to Jive”), Mellotron-drenched confessional ballads (the title tune), and even a sort of visionary art-punk (“Call the Police). Pretty amazing, but the best was yet to come.

While their three previous studio albums all had more than enough moments that were compelling, they never quite held it together for an entire set. Live at Tipitina’s was a fine set, but it didn’t really capture the Galactic live experience. To be honest, Stanton Moore’s solo records were more consistent. That said, Galactic have amassed a fine catalog, and this best-of provides this band with all of their strengths intact and on display. There are 15 tracks here. Twelve are culled from the various long-players; two previously unreleased in the States (live versions of “Sew, Sew, Sew” and “Doo Rag/Triple Threat”) and one, “The Green Minute,” appears here for the first time period. The booty shakers are all here: “Something’s Wrong With This Picture,” “Double Wide,” “Tighten Your Wig,” “Century City,” “Jeffe 2000,” “Get a Head On,” “Meter Maid,” “Bobski 2000,” “Go Go,” and a few others. The record is sequenced out of chronological order; instead its order is determined by the way tracks feel against each other. Like everything Galactic, this is about vibe, and in that department it’s a monster too. If anything, it feels more like a fifth Galactic album than a best-of. It’s also revelatory in terms of what this band, as opposed to their whammer (extended) jammer cousins, is capable of. No (read: rhythmless interpretive) dancing to these jams is necessary. Just let the backbone slip into the rhythm section and feel that bass propel you onto the floor. Vintage Reserve is one of the party records of the year. ~ Thom Jurek
